Jasper Mendoza works as a Research Assistant for FishBase and SeaLifeBase, encoding data on trophic ecology, abundance and introductions. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology major in Systematics from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), where he developed an interest in marine life. His continued involvement with Q-quatics gave him the opportunity to work with internationally renowned experts, which in turn motivated him to deepen his engagement in the conservation and sustainable management of the ocean and its resources.
Outside of work, Jasper enjoys a variety of hobbies and interests. An avid tech enthusiast, he is always on the lookout for the latest and greatest gadgets being released. He spends his leisure time racing cars in the virtual world of Forza or immersing in the multi-layered story of Final Fantasy. Jasper also follows Formula One, indulging his love for high-speed thrills and adrenaline-fueled competition. His diverse interests bring a multifaceted perspective to his research which hopefully inspires the next generation of marine biologists.
