Joan Kate Maquinano (BSc), Research Assistant

Maki joined Q-quatics mainly to handle one of the core tasks in FishBase which is encoding fish photos into FishBase in collaboration with taxonomic experts and global users, as well as extract and encode biological and ecological data for marine and freshwater fish and non-fish species from different ecoregions into FishBase and SeaLifeBase. Maki graduated from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, major in Zoology. She is interested in marine biology, climate change and geographic information systems.

In her free time, she likes to do freehand sketching, watching films, and playing a variety of computer and console games.
