Patricia Sorongon-Yap (MSc), Research Analyst

Patricia holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Management from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and has been working on marine conservation for 17 years. 

She is one of the pioneer members of the SeaLifeBase team handling all vertebrate groups such as marine mammals, seabirds and reptiles.

At present, Pat is the faunal work coordinator at Q-quatics responsible for completing global distribution for all marine species in SeaLifeBase and FishBase and assists in providing data for AquaMaps. She is also part of the fisheries reconstruction team.

In her free time, she loves to travel to different island communities, join marine mammal expeditions, and give talks on conservation awareness. Pat continues to be involved in studies on marine mammal threats, behaviour and their conservation in the Philippines. She also enjoys crocheting, playing basketball and boxing.
