After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, with a major in Systematics, Brian – known as ‘Bam’ to those close to him – started his journey with Q-quatics. He is a Research Assistant at Q-quatics, contributing to a project focused on updating global fisheries catch reconstructions to 2022. This initiative is in collaboration with the Sea Around Us at the University of British Columbia. Bam is primarily involved in the preliminary investigations of previous reconstructions, extensive literature search, and assists with the catch reconstruction processes for various countries.
His interest in marine biology was piqued from his childhood, where he dreamt of exploring the natural world, especially those underwater. His immersion in natural history and biodiversity during his time at the university further strengthened his will to study and protect not only marine life but all of nature’s gifts.
Outside of work, Brian enjoys indulging in his various hobbies, including playing online games with his friends and playing and listening to music. He also enjoys walking outdoors and appreciating nature. One of his favorite memories is climbing Mt. Makiling with two of his closest friends, where they were able to catch up on things and enjoy personal conversations while sharing the view of the famous jade vine hanging among the treetops.
